Marjory Milligan

It has been a long and winding road to mosaics.

From knitting dolls clothes, to dressmaking, all forms of needlework, theater costumes, drawing (no painting for me!) to finally finding the pleasure and joy of the creating mosaic art.

Working with glass and ceramic tile, stained glass, and most recently beads, requires different skills. The desire to be precise, coupled with the vagaries of the materials result in surprising compromises. The right brain versus the left brain is a delightful dance. The work is totally absorbing, hours pass quickly as the planning, layout, changes, re-layout, and eventually affixing the material takes place.

And there is always, at hand, the hammer and chisel! After all, nothing is carved in stone in the studio.
